Application of GFRP extruded hollow web plate in the Rama Ba Bridge in Thailand

The Rama Ba Bridge in Thailand was built in 2001 and has been in use ever since. The bridge is located in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, and spans the Chao Phraya River. The main bridge is 475 meters long, with a main span of 300 meters and anchor and back spans of 175 meters; The total length of the bridge is 2480 meters. Bridge deck design load: 2.5 KN/m2.

In order to reduce wind resistance, maintenance costs, and enhance aesthetic appeal, large steel bridges usually use GFRP extruded hollow web plates to form a closed shell, enclosing the exposed steel beams under the bridge deck. These panels can only be installed after passing on-site load testing.
